The Don McEwen Memorial Sled Dog Derby is one of two winter races hosted by SSASO, the Sled Dog Sports Association of Southern Ontario in 2024. SSASO is a not-for-profit sled dog association dedicated to the education and preservation of sled dog activity in our communities.
Financial support from donors and sponsors goes directly towards our race event costs including professional race judge and timekeepers, veterinary and safety personnel, licensing, insurance, advertising, race sanctioning, rentals and hardware. The budget for a SSASO sanctioned event is approximately $9,000.
